Hey guys! Well this is another one of my fics. It's the first time I actually posted this anywhere so please tell me what you think!
The light on the stage makes it seem larger. I’ve always noticed that, more so that I can have an excuse of why I don’t perform anymore. Even if I don’t perform anymore, the stage still calls to me though. It usually calls me to sing, but even if I’m alone I still can’t find the strength to. Maybe I should try now? Closing my eyes, I start. After the first couple of notes, my hand dropped.
“How did I know that you we’re going to be here?” Troy said with a smirk on his face.
“Just like I know that you’re still scared to be alone in the dark or maybe knowing the fact that you auditioned for the musical and got a callback?” I replied.
“Okay you heard that? Touché but you actually need to play the whole song if you want to perform again right?” he said. Ugh! Why does he keep on telling me that?! My head drops.
“Yeah I know.” I said. Suddenly, I noticed that he already took a few steps to be right in front of me. I look up. He reached out took my hand and placed it on the piano keys.
“Troy, I can’t play.” He turns to me and smiled, then said: “Yeah, but you didn’t say we couldn’t.” Loophole, great! His hands completely covered both of mine and I started.
So far so good.
I did it! I played the song!
He’s singing with me?
“Well Mr. Bolton, I think you’re in some sort of roll here!” Mrs. Darbus said.
“Mrs. Darbus, we were jus—“
“Ms. Banks, I’d never thought that I would see you again after the talent show.”
“I know.” Great! Even Mrs. Darbus is judging me!
“Well we shouldn’t let that talent go to waste!” She said. Wait she said that?! Troy and I looked at each other.
“What do you mean Mrs. Darbus,” We both asked. She looked over at us as if checking if it was really us.
“Because this is the theater and in theater we give all equal opportunities, I am offering you two a callback.”
My jaw dropped. Troy stood up and said, “We accept!”
“Well then, I shall tell Kelsi to give the duet from the first act and work on it with you,” with that, she left.
“Troy what the hell?!”
“Natalie, this is the perfect opportunity! Even Mrs. Darbus thinks so!”
“But I don’t want to.” I said
“Come on, please?” he said while staring at me with his pathetic puppy dog eyes.
“Troy what’s the point?” I asked.
“The point is that you are a perfect performer and yet you suddenly quit and now you have a chance to go back,” he said convincingly.
“I don’t know,” I replied.
“Natalie, I hate seeing you giving up on your self! Could you just agree to this please? ”
“Fine,” I said a smile slowly forming on my face. I look at him. Our eyes meet. He smiled back.
“Well, I have to go, you know, basketball practice.”
“Yeah, go Wildcats!”
“Bye.” He said and then waved. Jogging through the aisles as he made his way out the theater doors.
Enjoy

I've always been the kind of girl
that hid my face
that hid my face
So far so good.
So afraid to tell the world
What I've got to say
But I have this dream
Right inside of me
I'm gonna let it show, it's time
To let you know
To let you know
This is real, this is me
I'm exactly where I'm suppose to be, now
Gonna let the light, shine on me
Now I've found, who I am
There's no way to hold it in
No more hiding who I want to be
This is me
Do you know what it's like
To feel so in the dark
To dream about a life
Where you're the shining star
Even though it seems
Like it's too far away
I have to believe in myself
It's the only way
This is real, This is me
I'm exactly where I'm suppose to be, now
Gonna let the light, shine on me
Now I've found, who I am
There's no way to hold it in
No more hiding who I want to be
This is me
What I've got to say
But I have this dream

I did it! I played the song!
You're the voice I hear inside my head
The reason that I'm singing
I need to find you, I gotta find you
You're the missing piece I need
The song inside of me
I need to find you, I gotta find you
The reason that I'm singing
I need to find you, I gotta find you
You're the missing piece I need
The song inside of me
I need to find you, I gotta find you

Gonna let the light, shine on me

You're the missing piece I need
The song inside of me (this is me)
You're the voice I hear inside my head
